Wanderlust in the Echoes is a binaural audio work reconstructs the disorienting experiences of Alice in Wonderland Syndrome (AIWS) and dissociative episodes. These states are marked by a profound disruption of perceptual coherence—time appears to accelerate, familiar sounds become overwhelming, and the internal sound of the heartbeat grows impossibly loud and unmoored. Through spatialized sound, synthesized heartbeat motifs, and layered distortion and reverberation, the work immerses the listener in a world of sonic estrangement.

Drawing on autoethnographic methods, the artist treats disordered perception as an epistemological mode, to critically examine how we inhabit and negotiate the boundaries of selfhood. Rather than presenting a linear narrative, it creates a sonic encounter with instability and perceptual violence. The piece reveals the body as a site of vulnerability and radical possibility, inviting audiences to temporarily inhabit a fragmented and amplified sensory world.
